2009 Official Press Release for Portland Creative Conference

On September 6, 2008, after a seven-year hiatus, the Portland Creative Conference blazed back onto the Newmark Theater stage with an eclectic line-up of presenters. Some of Oregon’s most original and creative thinkers let loose with a blast of bold new ideas and let us in on the secrets that inspire and motivate their work. The nearly 400 attendees got exactly what they came for—a recharging of the imagination.

The Portland Creative Conference (Cre8Con), an interdisciplinary exploration of the creative process within various creative industries, happened on September 6th 2008.  Read the recap. The conference featured keynote presentations from leading creatives across a variety of fields (from companies such as LAIKA, Nike, Wieden+Kennedy, Dark Horse Comics, Michael Curry Design, White Horse, CROW Clothing and more) who revealed their work and talked about their process, influences, inspirations and motivations.

It was an opportunity for attendees to get inside the head of visionaries who are generating original and effective ideas and to be inspired in entirely new ways, viewing their own world with a fresh perspective as a result.

The nonprofit fiscal agent of the Conference is Keeping the Beat, a public charity that raises money to support arts education in Oregon.

This event was part of an orchestrated business+culture experience in Portland that included the Time-Based Art FestivalMusicFestNW, Inverge: the interactive convergence conference and the First Thursday Gallery Walk.

In keeping with our theme… here is a look back.
